"Dear Mother,
I'm sorry I had to rush through the note the other day so I'm checking in again. Everything is fine I'm well and happy and fat as a pig.
I surely was sorry to hear about Mr. Dudley and wanted to write him but didn't know his address. I [sic] him to hurry up and get well. Is he still going in the Navy?
Our Captain has a golden Cocker that he brought with him and he was just up in the bridge nipping at everyone. He is right cute but not as cute as Ja was.
There isn't much news and I can't tell you much else so I'll write again the next time we get into a port that I can mail a letter. Love to all and don't worry about me 'cause I'm OK. Pete"
