"Dear Mother, We haven't had any mail but once since we left Norfolk so I really don't know much to say. Our mail must be held up somewhere and we'll probably be deluged with it soon. Are you all staying down at the "Horse Point" this summer? If you take any good pictures you might send me some as I'd like to see how everything looks. Also some of the boat as I have a friend on here that is rightly interested in boats and I'd like to show him a picture. There isn't much news. I don't know when we'll go back to the States but not for a good while yet I know. Have you seen Koka [sic]? I suppose she is enjoying my car a lot. I hope it isn't worn out when I get back. I hope any dividend checks or anything don't send them to me or they might get lost. Some of the officers up here have lost some valuable stuff like that as several hundred bags of mail sometime get lost. Be good and I'll write again soon. Love, Pete"
