"Dear Mother,
We had a baseball game with some officers from another ship up here yesterday and today I'm so sore I can hardley hobble around. We had a swell time though and are going to have a boat (rowing) race this afternoon.
We still haven't had any mail so I don't know whether you all have heard from me or not either. I guess we will get some sun though.
Are you going to stay at Horse Point this summer? I sure would if I could. Is Horace still at Maxwell Field?
I will write again soon but have to get ready for this big boat race this afternoon so will say good by to all of you. Be good and write me soon. Love Pete P.S. Is Mr Dudley O.K. now? I hope so."
