"Dear Mother, How is everyone now that summer is just about here? When are you all going down to Horse Point? I'll let bet Daddy has a time with that tractor this summer. I haven't heard from anyone back there for a good while but mail is slightly slow so I guess that is why. Don't send me anything, I have boxes of everything like that because they would probably be lost. Also, keep all my big dividend checks until get back as I wouldn't want anything to happen to them. Has Saint heard anything from the draft board yet? He had better be thinking about some way to get a commission. They will call him one day and he'll be gone before he knows it and no commission. What kind of crops is Pappy going to plant at Horse Point this season? I guess he has already planted most of them by this time. You all will be having a birthday in a couple of weeks. I wish I could send you something but naturally I can't. Anyway, happy birthday and I wish I could be there with you. Love to all, Pete P.S. I just finished reading "With Malice Towards Some." It surely was good and if you haven't read it do! I also read "Convoy" by Quentin Reynolds. It wasn't much about convoys but very interesting and I think Daddy would like it. We are at sea so excuse this scrambled writing."
