"Dear Ma,
Again I'm in a hurry as we only have a boat once a day to take mail and I got caught short again.
How is everyone at home? I am fine so don't worry about me. Why haven't you written me? I don't know whether I'll be able to get it now but wish you had as I'm anxious to hear from you all.
I just ate one of your brandied peaches and it sure was good. I won't be able to get anymore packages so if you were thinking of them don't send them but thanks just the same.
I will write again when I have more time - in a day or so. So be good and love to all. Pete"
