"Dear Mother,
I haven't been able to write much lately but I guess you know why. I hope we will be home soon but can't be sure. If I knew I could not tell you exactly when but expect me when you see me. It may be a long time yet but we all hope not. I don't know whether you have V-Mail service here or not but I have this form so will use it.
I would like to give you a list about what I need for Xmas -. A pair of heavy fur lined leather gloves with a strap fastener instead of a button or snap. But any kind of heavy glove would be swell. Just regular length not any gauntlet or anything like that. But don't send me anything as packages get lost, etc. Hope I'm back for Xmas. Love - Pete"
