Description

Red wool military coat. The coat has long tails in the back; the front is hemmed in a straight line slightly below the wearer's natural waist. It secures up the center front with a single line of large, brass post-backed buttons (9). There are 2 rows of decorative brass buttons that span from the shoulders to the center waist. The coat has a high collar decorated with 4 brass buttons on either side of the center front opening. The sleeves are set into the bodice with gathers at the top, creating a slight rise, and the arms are slightly bent forward. There are narrow cuffs decorated with large brass buttons along the cuff edge. The body of the coat is lined with undyed cotton.
