Pattern 1796 light cavalry saber and scabbard. The simple handle has a leather grip and an ear-shaped guard. The scabbard has attached straps that hook onto two rings along the inner curve. The straps have to additional hooks.
Context
Said to have been surrendered to Cornelius Young during the Battle of Plattsburgh in the War of 1812.
