Description

Doll with wooden bust, arms, and legs, and a soft body. The bust is plastered and painted with cream-colored skin and brown hair. The face has a molded nose and chin and painted eyes (blue), eyebrows, and mouth. The arms are chip carved with attached fingers and a separate thumb. The wooden arm pieces extend to just under the elbow. The doll is wearing a black silk dress with a surplice bodice held in pleats. The sleeves reach to just below the elbows, and there is a white gauze neckerchief, or fichu. The fabric of the long skirt is split throughout, showing the white petticoat beneath.
