Context

Produced for the National Convention of the National Creamery Butter Makers Association in 1899. The American Butter Institute (ABI) is an Arlington, VA-based trade association for manufacturers, processors, marketers, and distributors of butter and butter products. Originally established as the National Association of Creamery Butter Manufacturers in 1908. There are currently 27 active member companies that market approximately 90% of all the butter manufactured in the U.S. Source: http://www.butterinstitute.org/about-us The last owner of this ribbon was Parker Perry (1903-1988) of Morrisville and Stowe, Vermont. Perry came to Vermont in the 1940s and was the gas-ration agent during the war for Mobil Oil, then called Socony Oil Co. He then purchased the Green Mountain Inn in Stowe and operated it for over 40 years. He was active in Farm Bureau affairs and was an early promoter of Vermont dairy products. However, he was not yet born at the time of this convention. See note below.
