Description

Sword and scabbard. The sword's guard is ornately molded with an eagle and United States shield. The blade is lightly etched with a repeating floral design. There are bullet holes in the sword.

Context

Used by Captain Andrew J. Davis, Co. B, 17th Regiment Vermont Volunteers during the Civil War. The holes in the sword were made during the Battle of the Wilderness.
