Description

Gold and silver sword and scabbard. The handle is ornately engraved gold, with decorative floral engravings and a pommel in the shape of an acorn. The rain guard has an applied shield engraved with the inscription, "Dr. E. S. Forester, 7th Vt. Regt." The silver blade is etched with the inscription "United States Medical Staff".

Owned by Elihu S. Foster, Assistant Surgeon of the 7th Vermont Regiment during the Civil War.
