Description

Hand fan made of a paperboard stapled to a wooden shim. The fan board is in the shape of a shield and is printed with a border that shows an owl at the top, flowers at the sides, and rabbits at the bottom. In the center is a black-and-white photograph of a man leading a horse into a building. The man is wearing a hat, vest, shirt, and pants, and is carrying a shovel. He has a long white beard. The horse is wearing blinders and a plow harness. The image is labeled at the center bottom, "WHEN THE DAY IS OVER". The back of the fan bears the inscription, "COMPLIMENTS OF A. G. FREEGARD / Dealer in GENERAL MERCHANDISE FEED AND COAL / WHITING VT."
