Description

Reverse-painted glass miniature of a family playing in an interior setting with a printed photographic image of a river outside the window. The lower left corner reads, "SAULT'S MUSIC SHOP / Randolph, Vt."

Context

Eli Sault (1869-1933) was brought to Randolph, Vermont from Rhode Island as a baby. He became a carpenter and it is likely that his company, E.L. Sault, built the Randolph Play House in 1919. Sault was fond of music, especially band and orchestra, and also sang, according to his obituary. So perhaps he or one of his heirs established a music shop, although no record of such a shop came up in internet searches in January of 2025.
