Description

Marge medal molded on the front with two indigenous American figures and on the reverse with an inscription. The front shows two figures, a man and a woman, lounging on a shore looking toward a ship in the distance. The inscription, "JAMESTOW TERCENTENNIAL EXPOSITION MCMVII" rings the edge. The reverse is molded with a laurel wreath around the edge and a spread eagle at the center bottom. There is a long, neoclassical building above the eagle. The center is filled with the inscription, "COMMEMORATING THE FIRST PERMANENT SETTLEMENT OF ENGLISH SPEAKING PEOPLE IN AMERICA / AWARDED TO / VERMONT HISTORICAL SOCIETY". The words "Vermont Historical Society" are framed by a rectangle. The medal is accompanied by a black leather case lined with green velvet. There is a molded hole in the interior with a green ribbon band to secure the medal in place.
