Gold and silver sword and scabbard. The sword has an ornate handle of striped gold and silver in a spiral pattern. The pommel is engraved with acanthus leaves the rain guard is decorated with an eagle. The blade is engraved with a neoclassical design of vines and sheilds. The locket, chape, and hooks on the scabbard are shaped into baroque flowers. There is a small metal plaque attached to the scabbard between the hooks that reads, "Presented to Capt. J.O. Livingston, Mar. 20 1865 by his Co. G, 9th Vt. Vols."Context
