Description

Curved-bladed steel sword with scabbard. The grip is shiny black leather wrapped with twisted wire. The guards and pommel are brass, and the knuckle guard flows decoratively in three bands into the rain guard. The sword is accompanied by a wall plaque that engraved with the inscription, "This sabre was surrendered by a Confederate officer of Picketts division during Pickett's charge at the battle of Gettysburgh, July 3rd 1863, to Captain Stephen F. Brown of Swanton, Vermont, then a 1st Lieut of Co. K. 13th Reg. Vt. Vols. and presented by him to the Vermont Historical Society November 25, 1901.
