Description

Rectangular, red-clay brick with remnants of white mortar on the sides. The top has an attached paper label that reads, "New York, February 27th, 1903 This brick was taken from the roof of the cell one time occupied by Ethan Allen; in the building of late years known as the Hall of Records, and torn down by the City Authorities February 1903. This building was built in 1758 and used as an English Prison. Presented to the Museum by, Ervin A. Pratt, 496 Hancock St, Borough of Brooklyn, N.Y."
