Doll with a wooden head and soft body, arms and legs. The head has attached wool hair and remnants of plaster. (The plastered face is now separated from the head.) There is a string of glass beads attached to the head. The doll is wearing a silk satin dress lined in fine linen with a lace chemisette. The dress has a high waistline, a gathered bodice, and elbow-length sleeves. The neckline of the dress is edged with gold braid. The skirt of the dress is shredded. The doll's arms are made of linen doubled over and rolled into a tube. Any former plaster forearms and hands are no longer present.Context
While the doll dates to the early nineteenth century, the damage to it was received during the Great Vermont Flood of 1927 in Montpelier, VermontAcquisition
