Description

Metal and plastic political button. The light pink political button is circular and contains a black inverted triangle with the word “ALLY” in black neatly printed inside the triangle's borders.

Context

The pin was worn by Montpelier High School students in May 1997 as part of the Outright Vermont program at the school. The mission of Outright Vermont is to foster sensitivity and understanding of the issues facing gay, lesbian and bisexual youth. Wearing the pin signaled the wearer was an "ally" or friend of gay, lesbian and bisexual youth.
