Description

Small, rectangular piece of white fabric. The fabric is pasted onto a piece of blue-lined paper and held within a gilded frame. The paper has the handwritten inscription, "A piece of cloth stained with the Late President A. Lincoln's blood and which was paced between his head and this [sic] pillow. Presented by C.K.W. Strong Aug 29, 1865".

Context

Piece of cloth stained with Abraham Lincoln's blood. The piece was owned by C. K. W. Strong of Rutland, Vermont, a clerk in the war department during the Civil War.
