Description

Metal knee buckles. The borders consist a circle and an hourglass shape intertwined to form an oval. The latch bar has a two-pronged, U-shaped latch on one side, and an inward-facing two-pronged oval clasp on the other.

Context

Said to have been worn by David Williams at the reception and dinner held in honor of the Marquis de Lafayette's visit in Royalton, Vermont, in 1824.
