Description

Pincushion covered in red, twill-woven wool. The top is decorated with clear glass beads couched onto paper then appliqued onto the wool. The beads for a floral frame around the edge of the cushion and the letter R in gothic scripts at the center. There is white, beaded fringe around the edge. A paper note is stitched onto the bottom that reads, "Beaded pillow, made for Miss Clara Ranney's aunt, by a Vermont Indian woman (possibly an Abenequi), while in Brattleboro, about 1885. Gift of Miss Clara E. Ranney, Saxton's River, Vt. 8/12/50".
