Crocheted counterpane in a striped design, similar to bell pulls. The entire counterpane is crocheted using an afghan stitch, and the designs are cross stitched on the crocheted ground. Each stripe has a different colored ground: yellow, pink, blue, purple, black, red, green, burgundy, and orange (left to right). Each is decorated with a different motif, alternating between a solid vine and distinct elements: blue flowers, red and right roses, lilies, lilies and a deer, red and white roses, animals, morning glories, spring flowers, and grape leaves (left to right). Each stripe ends in a point, and they are surrounded by a black ground. The top and bottom edges are tasseled with brightly colored yarn.Context
