Description

Gold membership pin consisting of a bar and medallion. The bar is engraved with the words, "Past National President". The medallion is shield-shaped and molded in the center with the monogram UVL and around the edge with the inscription, "1861 1865 / LADIES OF THE U. V. L." The reverse of the medallion is engraved, "Nellie Harrington 1921-1922". The pin is accompanied by a photographic postcard showing a man and a woman sitting in ladderback chairs on a porch. A newspaper article about Calvin E. Harrington being elected senior vice national commander of the union veterans' legion is pasted to the other side of the postcard.

Worn by Nellie Jane Harrington to indicate her status as a former national president of the women's auxiliary of the Union Veteran Legion.
