Description

Beaded epaulet or coat cuff from men's coat. Brown fabrice with three, trilobate designs, each surrounded by simple scrolls. Zig-zag border.

Context

This epaulet or coat cuff seems a bit earlier than the other beaded items in the Abenaki Cultural Conservancy collection. It sports a close relative of the coeval double scroll designs to the east; and has the distinctive Wabanaki trilobate design in the center of the arcing pinnate scrolls.
