Description

Medal with a red, white, and blue striped ribbon. The medal is molded with a flying eagle and the inscription, "UNITED STATES FORCES". Beneath the eagle is a small medallion molded with the Vermont state seal surrounded by the inscription, "CITY OF BARRE WASHINGTON COUNTY VERMONT INCORPORATED 1805 FREEDOM AND UNITY". The back of the medallion is engraved, "PRESENTED BY THE CITY OF BARRE, VERMONT IN RECOGNITION OF PATRIOTIC SERVICE".

Context

Presented by the City of Barre, Vermont, to Gertrude M. Kirk in recognition of her son's service during World War II. Her son, Kenneth Kirk, survived the war.
