A black leather case with a calendar inside and a sleeve. On the cover of the case, printed in gold, is the following: "Compliments of Spaulding & Kimball Co., Wholesale Grocers, Stone Stores, South Wharf, Burlington, VT." This information is repeated on the inside flap, with a calendar for 1927 below.Context
This came to the Vermont Historical Society from the Baxter family and was found among the papers given to the VHS Library. It isn't clear who it might have belonged to in the family.
The company that provided this complimentary case was established by Frank Douglas Spaulding (1881-1958) and Fred E. Kimball (1869-1943. Kimball's obituary suggests he got into the wholesale grocery business shortly after graduating from Tufts College in 1891. The company went out of business in 1928.Acquisition
