Description

Hand-scraped leather vest, made of either deer or moose leather. The vest secures in the center front with 6 metal buttons impressed with the monogram "GAR", likely for the Grand Army of the Republic (Union Army). There are three pockets on the front exterior: to on the left and one on the right. There is an interior pocket on the right. The back waist has two attached straps that connect with a metal buckle for fit. The vest is entirely machine sewn with brown thread.
