Four pictures are also etched on the metal top. The top one looks like a factory and has the words “Glass House” and perhaps another word underneath. The top center image shows a cannon and a row of tents. The lower center image is of some kind of tower. The bottom image is of mills and the word steel is visible on the left side.

The Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) was a fraternal organization for veterans of the Union Army in the Civil War.
