Legion of Honor medal hanging from an eye ring. The top portion is made of silver and in the shape of an elaborate royal crown. The lower part is enameled with white and green with a gold center and the words "HONEUR ET PATRIE" on one side and "NAPOLEON EMP DES FRANC".

Context

Awarded to Captain Horace Bucklin Sawyer of Burlington, Vermont, while in France, 1829-1831.
