Description

Sword with straight blade and leather scabbard. The handles is wrapped in gold-toned wire, and the guard and pommel are unengraved. The scabbard has one stationary hook near the locket. The blade is stamped "US GWC 1864" and "Ames Co. Chicopee Mass."

Owned by Maurice William Dewey of Montpelier, Vermont. Likely used by a family member during the Civil War.
