Description

Blue-and-white striped nurses uniform. The dress consists of a simple skirt with two wide tucks along the bottom gather to the waist of a puff-sleeved bodice. The bodice is lined in white cotton, which is attached to the back of the dress, but separate from the front, allowing the front of the bodice to sit loose. The bodice and lining close separately. The attached sleeves are short puffed sleeves, and the long sleeves attach to the short with buttons. The buttons are on the short sleeves, with detachable sleeves having only buttonholes. The name "L Chapman Tatro" is written on the inner back lining.

Worn by Leah Chapman Tatro, a nurse at the Vermont State Hospital from 1912 to 1920.
