Patent model of a chair based. The model consists of a rounded square wooden frame with a groove near the inner edge. A mesh made of heavy wire is secured in the groove. The mesh is woven from wire in a plain weave, crossing every 1/2-inch. There are wires extending diagonally between each corner. There is a paper label on the frame that reads, "G. A. Watkins / Exhibit H.C.". There is a paper tag tied with pink ribbon to the wire mesh that reads, "No. 118.079. / G.A. Watkins. / Chair Seats. / Patented Aug. 18th 1871."Context
