Narrow pieced quilt in the Rolling Star or Carpenter's Wheel pattern. The quilt is pieced from solid red and solid white cotton in a pattern that resembles stars or snowflakes. The two short ends have a border of alternating squares and stars. The edges are bound with red tape. The quilt is hand pieced and hand quilted. The quilting is extravagant and follows the piecing pattern. The quilt is marked with the handwritten inscription, "Mattie Sept. 11, 1879".Context
