Description

Saw and miter-box consisting of a handsaw inserted through a metal mount attached to two perpendicular wooden boards. There is a paper label on the backside of the miter-box that says it is a Perfection Miter Box, manufactured by Union Hardware Co. of Torrington, Conn. USA. It lists two patent dates: Jan. 8, 1901 and Dec. 23, 1902. Underneath this information are directions for use of this tool. The word "Perfection" is also found on the metal device that holds the saw in place. On the top of the saw blade are the words, "Cast steel, Henry Disston and Sons, Philadelphia and Warranted." A large screw head on the wooden handle has the company name - H. Disston & Sons and an abbreviation for Philadelphia - "Philada."
