Description

A white fabric oval patch with the Cabot dairy logo. The logo shows "CABOT" in red embroidered script over a green outline of the state of Vermont and the words "Quality Vermont Dairy Foods" in green below it.

Context

The co-op was formed in 1919. In 1930 cheddar and cottage cheese were added to line of dairy products. In 1960 membership reached 600 farmers and cheese was being marketed under Cabot brand. during the 1970-80s new facilities were built to expand product line. The first visitor center opened in Cabot, VT in 1987. In 1989 Cabot won Best of Class for U.S Championships of Cheese. In 1992 Cabot merged with Agri-Mark. In1993 the West Springfield Plant was rebuilt allowing Cabot to enter retail butter business. In 1994 the Middlebury Plant was purchased. In 2003 Cabot merged with the Chateaugay Cooperative, bringing the McCadam brand & Chateaugay plant to the co-op. In 2006 Cabot Sharp Cheddar won World’s Best Cheddar at World Championship Cheese Contest. In 2010 Agri-Mark Whey brand was created.
