Unfinished pillow top made from 72 cigarette silks, now mounted on an archival padded board. The brightly colored silk squares feature pictures of famous women and flowers. They vary in size. They were hand-sewn together onto a muslin backing using a yellow floss chain stitch. The vertical rows alternate between pictures of women and pictures of flowers. The name of each flower is printed on its image, and each woman's picture is imprinted with her name, title, or signature, such as Helena, Queen of Italy, Bessie Clifford, or Olga, Queen of Greece.Context
