Description

White linen tablecloth with knotted fringe on all 4 sides. The fabric is woven in a Whigh rose pattern. The tablecloth is made from 2 widths of fabric, seamed along the center.

Context

Made by Betsey French of Peru, Vermont. From notes by an unknown evaluator of various fabric items in the VHS collection: "Tablecloth, cotton warp single, spun and linen weft singles, overshot construction Whig Rose 40-50/inch, Four harness weave, center seam. Fringe applied later, early 19th century, first quarter. Beautiful condition, linen shiny from use."
