Description

Membership badge consisting of two parts. The upper portion consists of the the seal of the State of Vermont surrounded by banners that read, "BURLINGTON COUNCIL No. 231" on the top and "SPRINGFIELD JUNE 1910" on the bottom. The green in the tree and clovers and the red in the clover flowers are enameled. The lower portion consists of a round medallion surrounded by a wreath with the letters "UCT" in the center. The lower portion hands from the upper portion with an eye ring.

Context

Worn by a member of the Burlington Council to the 1910 meeting of the Order of United Commercial Travelers of America, an organization of traveling salesman. The UCT was founded in 1888 in Ohio.
