Description

Rolled leather account holder with a long tie for closure. The file rolls flat into in a long rectangle with chamfered corners on the one end. Inside, a narrow strip of leather is woven through slits along the center of the rectangle to create document pouches. Each "pouch" is labeled in ink with capital letters: ABC; DEF; GHI; JKL; MN; OPQ; RS; TUV; WY.

Context

Originally held three account slips addressed to Richford, Vermont, dated to the 1830s.
