Description

Rectangular sampler made with silk yarn on a plain-woven linen ground. from the top, the sampler consists of a script alphabet (capitals) in pink and blue, a marking alphabet (capitals) in blue, a marking alphabet (lowercase) in white, the numbers 1-10 in white, and the inscription, "Eliza Barnett of Goffstown in the 8 year of her Age/Happy the child whose green unpractis'd years/The guiding hand of parent fondnefs rears/To rich instructions ample field removes/Prunes every fault and every worth improves/This needle work of mine can tell/When a child is learned wee/By my parents I was taught/Not to spend my time for naught./Eliza Barnett of Topsham July The 13 AD 1812". Each line is separated by a simple border line.
