Small sampler of silk on linen. From the top, the sampler consists of a marking alphabet (capitals) in blue and pink, a marking alphabet (lowercase) in brown and white, number 1-8 in brown and white, a script alphabet (capitals) in brown and pink, individual letter alternates in brown and white, and the words "Elizabeth G. Bayley born Feb. 11 1817, aged fourteen" in white and blue. Each line of letters is separated by a simple border. All stitches are cross stitches over two yarns.Context
