Navy blue silk flag with hand-painted seal of the State of Vermont in the center. The seal is bordered in gold scroll decoration within a laurel-type wreath of two pine branches. The inscription "Freedom Vermont and Unity" is painted beneath the seal on a pink ribbon. The crest is a deer or elk head emerging from a blue and gold twist. The seal itself shows a country scene of a large evergreen tree in a field or pasture, with a cow, a pond, and sheaves of wheat in front of a mountain range. The flag is bordered on three sides by gold fringe.Context
