Square sampler of blue and white silk on a plain-woven linen ground. The sampler consists of multiple alphabets (capital marking, script, numbers 1-11, marking alternates, and lowercase marking) follows by the inscription, "Achsah Foster/Made in school A.D. 1814 by Roxcinda Richardson/in the 9th year of her age."
The bottom portion of the sampler is pictorial with a single scene showing a four-bay house, several trees, some birds' nests or bird baths on stands, and a man in a top hat and tailcoat walking up a hill.Context
