Description

Medal consisting of a bar, a green ribbon, and a medallion. The bar has a crest of a stag's head in the center and the words, "FIRST VERMONT INFANTRY U.S.V.", on a banner across the bottom. A green satin-woven silk ribbon is looped around a wire at the back of the bar. The round medallion attaches to the bar with two short chains and is shaped into three red enameled wedges over a laurel wreath with a blue and white enameled circle in the center. The circle has the words "SPANISH-AMERICAN WAR" around the edge at the year "1898" in the center. The back of the medallion is molded with the Vermont state seal and the words, "GIFT OF W. W. WEBB."
