Description

Padded, but mostly two-dimensional, doll. The doll is wearing a loose-fitting, long-sleeved garment consisting of a robe and pants. The sleeves are voluminous, and the robe is tied closed around the wearer's breast. The doll is also wearing a large, peaked hat that hangs low, covering the top half of the face. The visible face shows a nose, red lips, and black facial hair drawing in with ink. The doll is holding a something rectangular over his chin. The back is marked in ink, "1923" and "Japan".

Owned by Flora Coutts of Newport, Vermont, who taught in Korea from 1922-1925.
