Description

Coin die. The die is hinged at the plate and has two long metal handles. One side of the die mold has a small flared opening. Inside is engraved with two sides of a coin in revers. One side shows the bust of a woman surrounded by 13 6-pointed stars and the date 1823. The other shows a spread eagle with an American shield on its chest and the words, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA 50 C".

Used to create counterfeit coins.
