Skis, circa 1909 Owned by James P. Taylor (1872-1949) Saxtons River, Vermont Gift of Clarence P. Cowles, #1954.2 Proponent of the Long Trail and founder of the Green Mountain Club, James P. Taylor was a true cheerleader for Vermont outdoor recreation. As early as 1909 he used these skis to lead tours of southern Vermont backcountry.
