The center of the dish is decorated with an engraved illustration of a large building with a square central cupola or bell tower. The building sits in a field with short, dead trees. The image is labeled, "HARDWICK ACADEMY AND GRADED SCHOOL." The bottom has a mark that reads, "Made in Germany for W.E. Clement, Hardwick, Vt."
